I’m A Celebrity: Bullard bravery prompts £10k bet from show fan

Jimmy Bullard cemented his position as the runaway favourite to win I’m A Celebrity 2014 after a brave showing in his second bushtucker trial.

The former Wigan player was already a favourite with viewers and camp-mates but has seen his popularity soar after eating a host of horrible dishes in the Terror Tavern trial.

Bullard was joined by ex-Playboy bunny Kendra Wilkinson in the gruesome pub-themed challenge and wolfed down a sheep’s testicle, cow lips, pig eyes, camel hump and a live wichety grub to ensure all 10 stars were won.

Wilkinson did her bit too by guzzling fish eyes, deer penis, pig nose and ostrich feet before washing it all down with a cockroach, cricket, meal worm and cheese fruit dish described as chilli con carnage.

Despite her efforts in the trial, the American remains a 20/1 outsider to win the show, while Bullard, who has been keeping camp morale high with his hijinks, has now been cut to 11/8.

One Ladbrokes customer was so impressed by Bullard’s performance that they placed at £10,000 bet on the Londoner to be crowned ‘King of the Jungle’.

The bookmakers’ Jessica Bridge claimed that Bullard has seemingly already earned a place among the all-time greats of the show and said Melanie Sykes is the only other celebrity with a remote chance of halting his run.

“Jimmy’s the most popular I’m A Celebrity contestant ever, and other than Mel, it’s becoming harder to see who else could actually win this year’s show,” she said.

Sykes has been at the head of the market since impressing in an earlier challenge and may have boosted her standing with male viewers after taking to the camp’s waterfall shower in a series of bikinis.

The TV presenter can now be backed at 9/4 but with Bullard’s popularity at such a high it could pay to take the 4/9 on the 44-year-old winning the Top Female market instead.
