Injury to star gives other Rangers men chance against QoS

Rangers prepare for their clash with Queen of the South on the back of the news that top-scorer Martyn Waghorn is out until the end of the season.
Mark Warbuton’s men should easily come good on their 3/10 odds of victory, but replacing their star men will be a headache for the rest of the season.
Waghorn has been in fine form for the Ladbrokes Scottish Championship league leaders this season and is undoubtedly one of the key reasons behind their ascent to the top of the table.
The 26-year-old forward has scored 28 goals in 34 appearances across all competitions for the Gers this campaign and has adapted to life in Scotland remarkably well.
His years spent around the English Football League were unremarkable to say the least, but the former Leicester City man has found his scoring boots since leaving his homeland.
Missing him for the remainder of the term is sure to cause upset around Ibrox, but it also presents the opportunity for other players to show their worth against Queen of the South.
The Glaswegian team are eight points clear of Hibernian and are 1/7 favourites for promotion meaning this is chance for strikers to impress and show they are worth keeping should the team make it back to the top flight.
Kenny Miller, Barrie McKay and new signing Michael O’Halloran are the most likely options to replicate Waghorn’s goalscoring exploits and all have their own merits.
Miller has bags of experience and has won the SPL three times with Rangers over his two other spells at the club and would surely be able to step up.
Conversely, McKay is only 21 and much is expected from the Paisely-born man who plays mostly as a winger, but could make an impact if utilised in a central position.
O’Halloran’s move to Glasgow seems to have come at the perfect time considering Waghorn’s injury, with the former St Johnstone man the most likely to replace his fallen teammate.
The 25-year-old scored 12 top-flight goals during his three years at his previous club, but the step down has clearly helped him and he has already scored once in his two Gers appearances.
