Ivory Coast to beat Burkina Faso, but fail to sparkle again

Ivory Coast were slightly unconvincing winners in their opening African Nations Cup game with Sudan and a similar manner of victory can be expected from their next Group B encounter with Burkina Faso.

Despite the embarrassment of riches at their disposal in attack, Didier Drogba’s solitary goal was all they managed in edging to victory in their opener.

It is 2/5 that Ivory Coast virtually assure their progress to the quarter finals with a success, but there seem to be more lucrative African Nations Cup bets on offer.

With Ivory Coast keeping three consecutive clean sheets, a win to nil in their favour looks on the cards, while 1-0 and 2-0 stand out in the correct scoreline offerings at 5/1 apiece.

However, with a host of upsets already occurring in the tournament so far, some punters may feel Burkina Faso have a chance of claiming a result, as they did when drawing 0-0 with Ivory Coast in the African Nations Cup in 2010.

Odds of 3/1 are available on the draw and the Burkina Faso win that would throw Group B wide open can be backed at 6/1.

Meanwhile, if Drogba scores at any time in the 90 minutes, all losing first goalscorer bets on the match will be refunded.

Angola defeated Burkina Faso in the opening round of Group B fixtures and they will also want to put one foot in the quarter finals by following up with another triumph over Sudan.

The omens are good as Sudan have failed to trouble the scorers in each of their last four African Nations Cup games and so the 1/1 on offer for an Angola win may appeal.

However, given the way Sudan defended doggedly against Ivory Coast, a bore draw may in fact be the more likely result and so the 7/1 on the 0-0 in the correct scoreline market looks the better option.
