King of Stats: Place your Open Championship bets after round one

This is great news for some of those at the top of the betting including 16/1 shot Justin Rose who is 33, with 34-year-olds Adam Scott 16s, Graeme McDowell 25/1 and Sergio Garcia 25/1 seemingly in the right age bracket.
2 – South Africans, two American and two Irish winners in the last seven years and one Northern Irish; Clarke in ’11. Rory McIroy at 20/1 and McDowell have the chance to square that mini-series.
*Star Stat* 8 – Of the last 10 champions have resided in the top 10 of the leader board after the first 18 holes, including the last five. The average placements during that time suggest fourth is the optimum slot.
1 – Only one of the last six winners has arrived in any form – that was Mickelson who went from winning the Scottish Open to take the Claret Jug at Muirfield. None of the others had finished within the top 10 of their preceding event – while four of the last five posted 50+ placements.
2006 – Was the last time The Open visited Hoylake since 1967 and the winner that day was Tiger Woods. Of the other market leaders, Scott and Garcia both posted top-10 finishes in ’06.
