Leicester v Tottenham: Familiar road recipe to pay for Lilywhites

Published:

If Spurs want to collect any points over the festive period this season then they’ll have to target three against a struggling Leicester outfit at all costs.

After visiting the Foxes on Boxing Day, Mauricio Pochettino’s side face Manchester United and Chelsea before 2014 is out and, with four points separating the north Londoners and a top-four place, a pointless Christmas would be a catastrophe for the club’s Champions League hopes.

Luckily for them, we envisage a win for the visitors among our three best bets for the contest, along with goals galore:

Over 2.5 goals @ 4/5

There are some games that you’d immediately expect to contain plenty of goals, Real Madrid v Barcelona is one such example, anyone that plays Liverpool this season is another, but Tottenham and Leicester clashes being goal-heavy? Not so much.

On the contrary, goals are exactly what gets served when these two meet, with all of the last seven tussles hurdling the 2.5-goal line, with the last two soaring over 3.5 goals too.

Just to aid the bet further, Spurs have been involved in 12 over-2.5-strike league games this term, from 17 played.

Tottenham to win @ 1/1

No side in the top flight has had to wait longer for a win than Leicester, who last celebrated three points 12 outings ago and have collected just two draws in that span.

Unfortunately for them, Spurs have been rather fluent when playing away from home this term, putting together the third-best road record in the division with four wins from their eight games, three of which came in the last four outings.

Harry Kane to score and Spurs to win 2-1

During Spurs’ trips away from White Hart Lane, they’ve stumbled across a winning formula that’s easily repeated.

In all of their last four victories in any competitions, cult-hero Harry Kane has found the back of the net and the Lilywhites have collected a 2-1 triumph.
