Liverpool suffer as Suarez gets four-month ban from all football

The hammer has fallen down on Luis Suarez’s head as hard he tends to clamp his gnashers around opposition defenders’ flesh, with FIFA announcing their decision to ban the Uruguayan for nine international matches following his bite on Italy’s Giorgio Chiellini.

The ruling ends the Liverpool striker’s involvement at the World Cup but also has a huge knock-on effect for the Merseyside club, as Sepp Blatter and co also took the decision to suspend Suarez from all football-related activity for four months.

So, for the second campaign in succession, Liverpool will be without the man whose goals almost fired them to the Premier League title despite missing him for the opening four Premier League games of the season last term.

Following FIFA’s decision, Suarez is set to miss the first 14 Reds games of the season, including the first three group games of the club’s Champions League campaign.

As a result, the Anfield outfit’s price to claim their first Premier League title in 2014/15 has drifted from 7/1 to 15/2.

Following the former Ajax striker’s flying return to action last term, though, Ladbrokes have offered 12/1 that he returns from this latest suspension to reclaim the Golden Boot he won with 31 strikes. It’s also even money that his return is marked with a goal, against any opposition.

While it’s yet to be seen what Liverpool’s opinion of the incident is, the bookie also rate Suarez’s chances of staying at Anfield at 1/2, while it’s 6/4 that he’s no longer with the club when his latest stint in footballing borstal ends.

This is the third time that the 27-year-old has been suspended for biting a player and he has now been banned for a total of 34 games since 2010 without ever being shown a red card in that time.
