Rangers v Liverpool betting tips and odds
The second Battle of Britain takes place at Ibrox on Wednesday when Rangers are looking to avenge last week’s 2-0 Champions League defeat by Liverpool, who moved up to second place in the table as a consequence.
The Reds have injury problems and could be missing their first-choice full-backs but are just 3/10 to make it back-to-back wins against the Glasgow giants which would significantly boost their chances of playing in the knockout stage.
It’s been a patchy start to the season for Jurgen Klopp’s men, so let’s examine some of the main talking points to help with our Rangers v Liverpool betting tips.
Rangers v Liverpool form
Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League already look like a pipe dream having won just two of their eight matches.
The Reds’ latest setback came on Sunday afternoon when they lost 3-2 at Arsenal which meant they have won just two of their eight top-flight matches, a run which has left them in the top half of the table only on goal difference.
Although Klopp admitted Liverpool had “real problems” after their defeat at the Emirates, they are still in with an excellent chance of qualifying for the last 16 of the Champions League having bounced back from a 4-1 defeat at Napoli with back-to victories against Ajax and Rangers.

The Light Blues have won all five home matches in the Scottish Premiership and remain a couple of points behind leaders Celtic following Saturday’s 4-0 victory over St Mirren, but their Champions League campaign has been woeful, losing all three games without scoring a goal, one of two teams yet to find the net.
Liverpool are 29/20 to win to nil or they can be backed at evens to be ahead at half-time and full-time as they were last week.
Trent Alexander-Arnold gave the Merseysiders a seventh-minute lead with a superb free-kick and Mo Salah doubled the lead from the penalty spot early in the second half.

Gers, 7/1 to win on Wednesday night, have now lost both halves in two of their three games, although they were goalless at the break at home to Napoli until James Sands was sent off with 35 minutes remaining.
On the flip side, the Reds have kept just two clean sheets in the Premier League this season and can be backed at 8/5 to win and concede in our Rangers v Liverpool betting tips.
Rangers v Liverpool head to head
Last week’s game at Anfield was the first ever competitive meeting between the clubs and the gulf in class was evident throughout the 90 minutes.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side arrived on Merseyside encouraged by Liverpool’s inconsistent form and incoherent defending but Klopp’s decision to switch formation to a 4-2-3-1 from a 4-3-3 in order to solve a mini-crisis of confidence had the desired effect.
They were undoubtedly helped by a team who struggled to retain possession let alone make any progress in the attacking third but were never under the kind of pressure which saw Brighton score three at Anfield on the previous weekend to prompt Klopp’s change of plan.

That they did not score more owed a lot to Allan McGregor, who made four first-half saves from Darwin Nunez alone.
Rangers finally stirred in the final five minutes when Rabbi Matondo’s cross was cleared over his own crossbar by Liverpool left-back Kostas Tsimikas and fellow substitute Antonio Colak’s shot was charged down by Alisson Becker, but their night was ultimately to end fruitless.
Nunez looks an interesting option to outscore Rangers at 12/5 as the Uruguayan has been the focal point in attack in the last two games.
Liverpool can also be backed at 3/1 to be leading after a quarter of an hour as they were at Anfield.
Rangers v Liverpool team news
Klopp, already without left-back Andy Robertson, has been rocked by a knee injury to Luis Diaz which will rule him out of action until after the World Cup, although on the plus side the Colombian does not require surgery.
Alexander-Arnold picked up an ankle problem in the same game and is expected to be out for a couple of weeks, as is centre-back Joel Matip.

Roberto Firmino is likely to start in the absence of Diaz, while Joe Gomez is expected to slot in at right-back if Alexander-Arnold fails to pass a fitness test, while Ibrahima Konate could accompany Virgil van Dijk in the heart of defence having made his first appearance of the season in the second half.
Sands returns from suspension for Rangers and could start instead of former Liverpool defender Ben Davies.
Colak scored his sixth Scottish Premiership goal in three appearances in a 4-0 win against St Mirren at the weekend and could start ahead of Alfredo Morelos.
Goalscorer Odds
Nunez is the 16/5 favourite to break the deadlock or 19/20 to get on the scoresheet as he did on Sunday, while Salah is 10/3 and evens in the two markets in our Rangers v Liverpool betting tips.
Firmino scored Liverpool’s second equaliser against the Gunners to make it six goals in his last five Premier League games and is 4/1 to get the ball rolling or 5/4 in the any-time market.
Virgil van Dijk reflected on today's 3-2 defeat to Arsenal. 🗣

Jota is is 7/2 and 6/5, but for those looking at bigger prices Van Dijk catches the eye at 5/1 to find the net or 16/1 to score the game’s opening goal.
Colak is the 8/1 favourite to net the opener from the Rangers contingent, while penalty-taker James Tavernier, who scored from the spot at the weekend, is 14/1 and 9/2 in the two options.
Fashion Sakala also found the net against the Buddies and is 14/1 and 9/2.
