Loic Remy – The latest from Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea
Published:Harry Redknapp has pretty much confirmed that Loic Remy will not be playing at QPR next season, despite sealing their return to the Premier League and there seems to be no shortage of top-flight clubs clambering for his signature.
The big problem for Remy is the club that he has the most interest in joining is yet to show an interest in his signature.
As things stand, Newcastle would be keen to extend the striker’s loan switch or make the deal permanent, but he has hinted that if he stays it could be a “massive stagnation”.
Furthermore, revelations have come to light that Remy missed Newcastle’s final game of the season because there was “nothing to play for” and this is not the type of dedication that will appease supporters.
In terms of making an approach, the speculation is that Tottenham are the first club to show their hand and a goalscorer from the wide areas has certainly been absent since the departure of Gareth Bale.
Aaron Lennon, Andros Townsend and Erik Lamela are arguably the three most natural wide players in the Spurs squad and this trio netted just two Premier League goals between them last season.
However, it is a club that has qualified for the Champions League that holds the most appeal and with his representatives in talks with Arsenal, this would appear the more certain move.
Although he wouldn’t turn down a switch to the Emirates, Remy is “dreaming” of a move to Chelsea.
He is obviously not put off by the outcome of Demba Ba’s largely failed move from Newcastle to Stamford Bridge and the fact that out of all of the clubs interested, this is where he is least likely to gain regular starts.
Eden Hazard won’t be dropped from the left and a big-money striker is bound to arrive this summer, with a deal for Diego Costa already said to be completed.
