Kompany 'would love' to replace Guardiola at Man City says former team-mate

Former Manchester City striker Wilfried Bony believes Bayern Munich boss Vincent Kompany would love to replace Pep Guardiola when he leaves the Etihad.
Kompany, who spent eight of his 11 years at Man City as captain, is on the verge of winning the Bundesliga title in his first season with Bayern and can add more silverware this summer at the Club World Cup.
Guardiola signed a one-year deal to extend his reign as Man City boss earlier this season but it remains to be seen whether he will stay further after a disappointing Premier League campaign which has left them only fighting for Champions League qualification and the FA Cup.
Speaking exclusively Ladbrokes, Bony, who played under Guardiola for a season, believes replacing the legendary boss when he does move on will be a difficult task.
The Ivorian said: "I think that Pep Guardiola’s future is entirely up to him because of what he's done for the club.
"He’s on a great run again, and he’ll want to finish top four to be in the Champions League, which is the main things for the clubs.
"Maybe next season if they're not in the Champions League and are struggling, there could be a possible discussion about that. But apart from this, I don't see that he’s going to leave.
"And when the time to replace him comes, I think that's going to be complicated, especially trying to find a coach of his calibre."
Kompany would love to replace Guardiola
Bony, who was captained by Kompany during his two-and-a-half years at City, believes the Belgian manager will be eyeing up the vacant manager's post whenever Guardiola decides to depart.
He added: "We’ve seen Frank Lampard as a manager, and we’re seeing Vincent Kompany, who’s maybe going to be a champion with Bayern.
"Leaving there to come to City, it's going to be complicated, but I'm sure that he would love that."
De Bruyne would be a 'great manager'
Man City, who face Wolves in a huge clash in the Champions League race on Friday, look set for a summer of upheaval with star playmaker Kevin De Bruyne announcing that he will leave the club this summer, with more stars set to depart.
The Belgian maestro has been tipped for a move to the MLS when he brings his hugely successful 10-year spell at the Etihad to an end.
But Bony believes has tipped the midfielder for a future in coaching when he hangs up his boots.
The former striker added: "Out of the current squad, I think that Kevin De Bruyne has the potential to be a great manager.
"I think he has a lot to give to football yet. I'm not expecting him to finish his playing career yet, but I think, in the future, he would be great if he became a manager."
