Man City v Man United FA Community Shield preview & betting odds

The FA Community Shield is always hard to predict, given that it's the curtain raiser for the season and comes before the Premier League campaign has even kicked off.

However, we can look at both United and City's pre season form to give us some insight. United have played five preseason games, winning three of them, but their most recent fixture was a 3-0 loss to Arne Slot's Liverpool in the US.

Man City, on the other hand, have played four pre season games and only won one of them, with the victory coming against Chelsea on August 3, so Ladbrokes also had the odds for who will lift the trophy, rather than just who will win the game.

City, who are also the favourites to win the Premier League, are seen as the odds-on front-runners with the bookies to win the match in 90 minutes at Wembley Stadium on Saturday, August 10. Despite their subpar pre season form, it's clearly felt that they have enough to beat their Manchester rivals.

Anything can happen in Community Shield games though, and that's very much the case for how the match ends, with three of the last five iterations being decided on penalties.

Man City v Man United FA Community Shield team news

The team news for Man City v Man United is quite hard to predict, given that most of the players who went far in the international tournaments, like those representing Argentina, Spain, England and the Netherlands have only just returned to training.

This means that for some, like Kyle Walker for Man City and Lisandro Martinez for Argentina, the Community Shield will actually be the first game they've played for their clubs in pre season.

However, what we do know is new signing Leny Yoro won't play for United after undergoing surgery this week, with Rasmus Hojlund also missing due to injury.
