Meet the Canadian tennis stars looking to rub salt in at US Open

Milos Raonic is the current world number seven at 25/1, while freshly-crowned Wimbledon doubles champion Vasek Pospisil certainly has some work to do to trouble the top seeds in New York at 250/1.
The pairing have jumped to the fore very recently as the American hard-court season is in full swing, by squaring up to each other in the final of the ATP’s Citi Open in Washington.
As was widely predicted it was Raonic who came out of the dust-up on top, winning in straight sets.
However, following on from his doubles glory at SW19 it showed career curve of 24-year-old Pospisil – current world number 36 in singles – is heading in the favoured direction.
Meanwhile, Raonic, who possesses a serve quick enough to take the writing off a tennis ball solidified his status as one of the biggest threats to the current world order at the top of the sport.
That victory was his sixth on hard courts during his burgeoning career and in the likely absence of defending champion Rafael Nadal, the Canadian would be immediately in with a greater chance at glory – especially as Roger Federer last made a US Open final back in 2009.
