Men’s Wimbledon final betting tips

The top two seeds meet in a much-anticipated men’s Wimbledon final between defending champion Novak Djokovic and world number one Carlos Alcaraz on Sunday.

Djokovic is looking to equal Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon titles by defeating the young pretender, the 6/4 underdog.

The 36-year-old Serb is the 1/2 favourite to win a record-extending 24th grand slam in men’s singles as we look at some of the options in our men’s Wimbledon final betting tips.

History-maker Djokovic eyes Federer and Court records

Djokovic is making history with virtually every victory and a 6-3 6-4 7-6 (4) win against Jannik Sinner in his record-equalling 46th grand slam semi-final earned him a record-breaking 35th final, taking him past American great Chris Evert.

Standing in the way of matching Margaret Court’s record of 24 grand slams is US Open champion Alcaraz, who overcame Daniil Medvedev 6-4 6-3 6-3 on Friday in his third successive grand slam semi-final.

The pair have met just twice before, most recently in last month’s French Open semi-final that hit the heights for two split sets before the young Spaniard was struck down by cramp.

Last year, Alacaraz had taken the first of their two matches on clay in a tight semi-final in Mallorca settled by a final-set tie-break, so there is every reason to assume a close contest beckons on Sunday.

Djokovic said: “Judging by the performances that we have seen from all the players, I think this is probably the best final that we could have. We are both in good form. We’re both playing well.

“I want to take this title without a doubt. I look forward to it. It’s going to be a great challenge, the greatest challenge that I could have at the moment from any angle really: physical, mental, emotional. He’s one of the quickest guys on the tour. He can do pretty much anything on the court. I consider myself also a very complete player.

“We had a very good match until he started struggling physically in Paris. I think we really took the level of tennis very high. I think it was great for the audience and great for us players to be part of that. Obviously, completely different conditions here. I do have more experience playing in many more grand slam or Wimbledon finals than him. Still, he’s in great shape. He’s very motivated. He’s young. He’s hungry. I’m hungry, too, so let’s have a feast.”

Motivation high for Spanish youngster

Alcaraz certainly has the hunger and the talent required to beat Djokovic and has set his sights on springing a surprise.

He said: “It gives you extra motivation. I think it’s more special to play the final against a legend from our sport. If I win, it could be amazing for me – not only to win a Wimbledon title but to do it against Novak would be super special.

“But I always say if you want to be the best, you have to beat the best. Novak is one of them. It would be great if I could do it.”

Both players have dropped just two sets over the course of the fortnight, so the stats suggest there is little to separate the pair but for the first of our men’s Wimbledon betting tips we favour Djokovic to win in four at 3/1.

That was the case in two of his last three matches and he saved two set points serving at 4-5 in the third set against Sinner, so he has started to look slightly vulnerable in the latter stages.

Four sets can be backed at 6/4 and we’re also on board Djokovic taking the opening set 6-3 at 3/1 which would have paid out in four of his matches at SW19.

That said, he lost the opening set to Andrey Rublev in the quarter-finals, so we would not put anyone off backing Djokovic to do the same and win the match at 5/1.
