Murray favourite to secure annual pre-Wimbledon Queen’s title
Published:
As is tradition, Andy Murray will prepare for his latest Wimbledon challenge by leading the charge at the Aegeon Championships at Queen’s Club.
The Scot is a five-time winner of the event, held in West London, and is 11/8 favourite to make it six.
He’ll open against compatriot Aljaz Bedene, and will surely be buoyed by his run to the French Open Semi-Finals.
It’s been a difficult year for the World Number One, with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal dominating the Slams so far.
Murray’s record for the year is 22-8, far from his usual level and nowhere near Nadal’s 42-6 or Federer’s 20-2.
Novak Djokovic has endured similar troubles (23-7), but Murray’s run in Paris offered new optimism for his chances in SW19 next month.
Canadian Milos Raonic was runner-up here to Murray 12 months ago, and is 6/1 to go one better this time around.
It’s a top-quality line-up this week in Hammersmith featuring 10 of the world’s top 20, with Marin Cilic and Nick Kyrgios each at 14s, ahead of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (16/1).
