O’Brien to win Irish 1000 Guineas, but not with Together
Published:Aidan O’Brien may train the favourite in the Irish 1000 Guineas odds with Together, but is one of his other runners Misty For Me that can run on to victory at the Curragh.
Misty For Me may have disappointed on her seasonal reappearance when only 11th in the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket behind Blue Bunting, but there are reasons to believe that she was not 100 per cent ready for that run.
Two Group One victories last season showed that Misty For Me certainly possesses class and at 8/1 in the Irish 1000 Guineas betting, she must represent at least decent each-way value.
Together finished second at Newmarket and this is largely why she is considered the number one challenger of O’Brien.
However, there are doubts that she possesses the finishing speed required to win and in the last 16 runnings of the Irish 1000 Guineas, only one horse who has finished in the top five in the English equivalent has won, from 26 entrants.
She is also far more exposed than the majority of the field and 5/2 looks a short price.
Like Misty For Me, Laughing Lashes is another runner who was a big disappointment at Newmarket, but has the two-year-old form to lay down a challenge if she can put her latest run behind her.
Laughing Lashes is 10/1 to win the Irish 1000 Guineas.
The other market leader with Together is Emiyna, who can be backed at 5/1.
Emiyna has won on both of her starts this season for trainer John Oxx, including at the Curragh earlier this month when just hanging on to win the Athasi Stakes.
But this form line is not won to follow in the Irish 1000 Guineas, as of the last five horses to have won the Group Three contest to make a return to the Curragh, none have triumphed and the best result has been eighth.
A £30 stake on Misty For Me winning the Irish 1000 Guineas would return £240. New customers can sign up here for a free £30 bet.
