Osborne’s speech great for punters’ budgets
Published:GEORGE OSBORNE’S budget speech was well received by Ladbrokes politics punters.
Many got the day off to a great start when they correctly backed the the bookies favourite purple tie at 2/1, and as soon as the Chancellor started talking the money continued to roll in as several phrases were uttered including ‘We’re All In This Together’ at 7/2 and ‘Big Society at 4/1.
The only market to fall in favour of the firm concerned the length of the speech as most punters were confident it would last less than 55 minutes, which was backed at 8/11.
Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: “Osborne’s speech signalled changes which will improve the finances of the nation but it did some serious damage to ours. As soon as we saw the purple tie we knew it wasn’t going to be our day.”
