Oxford odds-on favourites to defeat Cambridge in the Boat Race
Published:
The 163rd edition of the world famous Boat Race takes place this Sunday, and we’ve got a whole host of special odds to spice up the action.
Cambridge put an end to Oxford’s three-year winning run 12 months ago, but our traders are confident that the dark blue outfit are set to regain the glory at 1/3.
And that leaves Cambridge as the outsiders at 6/4, but we’ve priced up so much more for this annual four-and-a-quarter-mile duel along the Thames.
You can get 7/4 on Oxford winning by less than two-and-three-quarter lengths, while it’s 11/10 they take the race by three lengths or more.
It’s 8/1 Cambridge win convincingly by over three lengths, while 3/1 says the light blues sneak it by less than wo-and-three-quarters.
It’s 5/6 we see a winner in under 17m 25s, but with that result occurring just once in the last seven years, better value lies with a result in over 17m 26s.
At 16/1 it’s somewhat unlikely we’ll see a new record winning time, with the current yardstick set at 16m 19 set by Cambridge in 1998.
But according to the odds that’s far more likely than a new slowest time. It’s 50/1 it takes over 26m and 5s for us to see a winner at Chiswick Bridge.
It’s expected to be a fairly dry and calm day on Sunday, but the threat of a sinking never fades in the Boat Race.
It’s 20/1 that either crew sinks, while it’s a whopping 250/1 for both teams to go under at some point in west London.
Finally, the head-to-head record reads 82-79 in Cambridge’s favour, with that one dead heat in 1877.
And for the optimistic punter, we’re going 150/1 that we see another dead heat this Sunday.
