PDC Home Tour: What is it? Who’s playing? How can I watch?

Not manysports have managed to find a way around the coronavirus crisis, but BarryHearn and the PDC look like they’ve hit the bullseye courtesy of the inauguralPDC Home Tour.

Granted, it’snot quite the Premier League, and while there won’t be 10,000 fans packed intoPeter Wright’s living room, it does mean we can enjoy elite sport at a timewhen there’s not much live action going on at all.

Here’s whatto expect over the next 32 nights of live Darts action and beyond…

What isthe PDC Home Tour?

Hearn has alwaysbeen an innovative character. So, it should be no real surprise that he’s comeup with an imaginative format that will see elite players face-off against eachother from their own homes.

All matcheswill be broadcast via a video call and filmed via a mobile phone or a tripod. These will then be streamed live to the whole world on the PDC’s own TVchannel.

How doesit work?

The PDC HomeTour will make use of a classic tournament format. There will be 32 groupscomprising of four players each, with all four competitors in those groupsfacing off against each other in a nightly league format.

All of thesegroup matches will be played over the best-of-nine legs, with the group winnerfrom each night advancing through to round two of the competition.

And with 32initial groups, that means there are 32 consecutive nights of live Darts to lookforward to.

Who’s takingpart?

There’s noshortage of big names getting involved in the action. All 128 PDC Tour Cardholders have received an invite to take part in the event, with 2020 world championPeter Wright the most high-profile participant.

Snakebitehas already made his history once this year. Who would back against him doingit again? He’ll face an array of exciting challengers, though, including DaveChisnall, Scott Waites and Lisa Ashton amongst others.

One name whowon’t be getting involved is world number one Michael van Gerwen. The GreenMachine declined an invitation to the tournament, which means Wright is the onethey’re all looking to beat.

Where canI watch it?

Good question! If you weren’t paying attention earlier on, the PDC Home Tour is available towatch completely free to registered members on the PDC’s own TV channel, PDCTV.

All matcheswill be broadcast on the service, with each night’s action taking place at 19:30.Dan Dawson will be your guide through the action, while there’ll also be livescore graphics on screen, so you won’t miss a beat.

Can I beton it?
