Brighton next manager odds

Now the 2024/25 Premier League season is half-way through, Ladbrokes takes you through Brighton's squad, their chances of getting back into Europe and what their starting line-up has been.

Fabian Hurzeler is Brighton's new manager, having replaced Roberto De Zerbi at the end of the season. It's a bold move by the Seagulls, with Hurzeler being only 31 and managing in Germany's second-tier last year.

However, the feeling is that Hurzeler plays such an exciting and innovative brand of football that he could be the man to get Brighton back into the European spots, after missing out based on their league position last year.

So, with all that said and done, Ladbrokes takes you through Brighton's squad for the forthcoming Premier League season, what their starting XI has been, and their odds of getting back into Europe.

Brighton 2024 signings

As the club tend to do, Brighton have had a very impressive summer window thanks to their data-driven recruitment, bringing in some truly exciting talent.

Mats Wieffer joins from Feyenoord despite interest from Liverpool and Man United, whilst Yankuba Minteh joins from Newcastle as a highly-rated wide attacker, having also spent last season at Feyenoord in Holland.

The highly-rated Brajan Gruda joins from Mainz in Germany, with Brighton beating a host of other clubs to secure the signature of the German prospect, while Georiginio Rutter signs from Championship side Leeds for over £40m.

Ibrahim Osman from FC Nordsjaelland and Malick Yalcouye from IFK Goteborg are two signings for the future, as is Amario Cozier-Duberry, who joined as a free agent after his Arsenal contract expired, but has immediately left on loan to Blackburn.

New signing Yalcouye has also left on loan despite only having just joined Brighton, with the young midfielder set to play for Strum Graz for the forthcoming season.

Brighton transfer odds

Unlike when they lost Moises Caicedo to Chelsea and Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool last year, Brighton have been able to keep hold of most of their top talent this summer, with the exception of Pascal Groß, who has left for his boyhood club, Borussia Dortmund.

However, he's been replaced by Matt O'Riley, another talented midfielder, who has joined the club from Celtic, with Brighton seeing off competition from clubs across Europe and even the Premier League.

After two Premier League games, Brighton announced the signing of the highly-rated Ferdi Kadioglu, with the versatile Turkish international able to play left back, right back, and in midfield.

The other big outgoings are Billy Gilmour to Napoli and Adam Lallana, who left after his contract expired and now joined Southampton. The same can be said for Steven Alzate, who also departed at the end of his deal.

Casper Nilsson to Partick Thistle, Kjell Scherpen to Sturm Graz, James Beadle to Sheffield Wednesday, Facundo Buonanotte to Leicester, Osman to Feyenoord, Andrew Moran to Stoke, Ben Jackson to Livingston and Tom McGill to MK Dons are all loan deals that have been completed, with the Marc Leonard to Birmingham, Jensen Weir to Wigan, Mahmoud Dahoud to Eintracht Frankfurt, Deniz Undav to Stuttgart being two of the club's permanent sales so far.

In the final few weeks of the window, several more players have moved out on loan too, with Samy Chouchane to Northampton and Valentin Barco to Sevilla, Carl Rushworth to Hull, Mark O'Mahony to Portsmouth, Jeremy Sarmiento to Burnley, Odel Offiah to Blackpool and Abdallah Sima to Stade Brest both being completed for the season.

Brighton's 2024/25 starting XI

Bart Verbruggen has been deemed good enough with his feet to be Brighton's number one under their new manager, with Lewis Dunk and Jean Paul van Hecke being the chosen central defenders in his back-four system.

The wing-backs are Pervis Estupinan (with Jack Hinshelwood filling in for him when needed) and Joel Veltman on the right. New signing Ferdi Kadioglu can play on both sides of defence, as well as in midfield, giving Brighton a plethora of options.

Talented young midfielder Carlos Baleba joined last year, and sis now a regular starter after settling well into life in England. There's a lot of rotation in the midfield, but Baleba usually partners Wieffer.

Kaoru Mitoma was always going to be Brighton's starting left-winger, with the three other spots being filled by either Evan Ferguson, Joao Pedro, Danny Welbeck, Gruda, Rutter and Minteh, or any of the Seagulls' other top attacking talent.

Brighton's Premier League odds

In what can only be described as good news for Brighton, the bookies had them as more likely to get into the Champions League spaces as they are to be relegated back down to the Championship at the start of the season.

Brighton have been given a 40% chance of finishing inside the top six, just as they did in 2023/24. Their last campaign was mixed, but Brighton will feel that given their positive summer and the talent they've got in the squad, getting into Europe is achievable.

For those that are interested, Man City are 12/1 to get relegated from the Premier League, but are also one of the favourites to win the title for the fifth time in five years, alongside Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea as the three other front-runners.
