Premier League Darts: Top two fight for league bragging rights

Michael van Gerwen, Dave Chisnall, Gary Anderson and Raymond van Barneveld are the only players with anything riding on the final group game of this year’s Premier League Darts, with the top four decided ahead of the competition’s O2 showpiece.
With that quartet all jostling for position ahead of the denouement in Brighton, it’s the battle between Van Gerwen and Chisnall that will take all the attention.
The pair are guaranteed to finish the league phase in the top two positions, meaning there is every chance that they could meet again in the London final in a week’s time.
First, however, they need to decide which of them will head to the capital as the group-phase victor.
The winner of their match will receive the honour, with just one point separating the duo ahead of it, and it’s Van Gerwen that is heavily favoured at 4/7 to seal the triumph based on his form throughout the tournament.
The Dutchman has only lost three times in his 15 Premier League games this season, but at 11/4 Chisnall’s ability to surprise, having beaten everyone in the league bar the Dutchman, cannot be ignored.
Beyond that headline clash, Anderson and Van Barneveld are separated by just a point in third and fourth place respectively.
The Flying Scotsman faces the tougher task before the semi-final stage, going up against a confident Adrian Lewis fresh from beating Van Gerwen last time out. A head-to-head comparison of the two can be found below:
Anderson is still favoured at 1/1 to win the match, but will be facing a far sterner test than Van Barneveld, who is 5/6 to beat an out-of-sorts Stephen Bunting.
In the opening encounter of the evening, Phil Taylor will look to bounce back from the disappointment of failing to qualify for Finals Night for the first time in the competition’s history against James Wade.
The Power is 4/6 to claim a meaningless victory on the south coast, which cannot be passed over considering his keenness to finish on a positive note.
