Now the 2024/25 Premier League season is mid-way through, Ladbrokes takes you through Newcastle's squad, their chances of finishing inside the top four next year, and what we expect their starting line-up to be.

Newcastle missed out on European football last season, after Man United won the FA Cup, but that may be a blessing in disguise for Eddie Howe's men.

The Geordies were plagued by injuries last year, which hampered their Premier League and Champions League campaigns. Perhaps playing less football will allow Newcastle's players so stay fresher, giving them a better chance of finishing higher up in the table.

Now we've got the intro out of the way, join Ladbrokes as we take you through Newcastle's squad for the forthcoming Premier League season, what we expect their starting line-up to look like come August 2024, and their odds of finishing inside the top four.

As noted, Newcastle have been busy with several confirmed signings this summer, including Lewis Hall's loan move from Chelsea being made permanent.

Odysseas Vlachodimos joins from Nottingham Forest, with talented youngster Elliot Anderson going the other way. This summer also saw Lloyd Kelly join as a free agent after his Bournemouth contract expired and William Osula join from Sheffield United in somewhat of a surprising move.

To add depth and experience to the goalkeeper department, ex-Norwich shotstopper John Ruddy joins the club, whilst the club also completed the signing of Miodrag Pivas from Jedinstvo Ub.

Anderson wasn't the only talented youngster to leave the club, with Yankuba Minteh moving to Brighton on a permanent deal after spending last season out on loan with Arne Slot at Feyenoord.

Kell Watts moved to Cambridge with Jude Smith moving to Carlise. Max Thompson has also left, but only for Chesterfield on loan, whiilst Paul Dummett, Loris Karius and Matt Ritchie all departed at the expiration of their contracts as free agents.

Also departing the club on loan is Jordan Miley, the brother of Lewis, who has left for Newport County. Harrison Ashby and Joe White will be playing for QPR and MK Dons for the forthcoming season respectively, whilst Ryan Fraser has left for Southampton on a permanent move.

Newcastle's 2024/25 starting XI

Newcastle have continued to line up in their 4-3-3 shape with Nick Pope back in goal now that he's returned from injury.

Kieran Trippier was expected start at right-back, but that spot has been given to Tino Livramento, with fellow ex-Chelsea man Lewis Hall now a regular starter out on the left.

Sven Botman has missed most the initial part of the season through injury, so Fabian Schar has been partnered at the back alongside Dan Burn, who to his credit, has done very well at the heart of the Georides' defence.

Sandro Tonali finished up his ban and is able to play now, so he features in a midfield trio with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes, with Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff coming in when needed.

Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak are the stars of Newcastle's attack, with Josh Murphy, Harvey Barnes and Callum Wilson trading minutes in the other forward spot.

Newcastle's 2024/25 odds

Liverpool are the favourites to win the Premier League, ahead of Arsenal, Nottingham Forest and Man City, with Newcastle nowhere to be seen.

The Geordies have been given a decent shot at 31% to qualify for the Champions League once again. They've been given a 75% chance of finishing inside the top six, and the bookies think they're almost guaranteed to finish in the top ten.

Newcastle's Premier League 2024/25 fixtures

Newcastle kicked off their Premier League season against top-flight newcomers Southampton, with the fixture taking place at St James Park on August 17 and ending with Howe's side winning 1-0.

In their first game of September, Newcastle hosted Tottenham at home, hoping to get one over on one of the teams that will likely be fighting with them for the European spots for the majority of the season, which they did by winning 2-1.

Newcastle then hosted Man City on September 28, taking two points off the reigning champions in a 1-1 draw, before losing 2-1 to Chelsea the following month on October 27. Six days later, the Geordies faced Arsenal at home, winning that game 1-0, just as they did last season.

A tough fixture at home against Liverpool took place on December 4, with the Geordies playing so well that some questioned how they only ended up walking away with a point following a 3-3 draw. That came before Newcastle closed out 2024 by beating Man United 2-0 at Old Trafford on December 30.

Their first game of 2025 wasn't much easier, as they travelled to London to face Tottenham on January 4. The Geordies, however, managed to secure a 2-1 win before facing Man City, also away from home, on February 15, which ended in a rather surprising 4-0 loss.

It was trip to Anfield on February 25 for Newcastle, which ended in a 2-0 loss, before they face Man United at St James Park on April 12 as we approach the end of the campaign.

Newcastle's final three games aren't easy by any means, as they face Chelsea at home on May 10, Arsenal at the Emirates on May 18, and Everton on the final day of the season at home on May 25.
