Premier League predictions: Betting tips for Liverpool v Luton

Liverpool's next manager

Ladbrokes shares its Premier League predictions and betting tips for Luton’s trip to Liverpool later on today.

Despite Champions League football taking place this week, the Premier League isn’t stopping, with Man City beating Brentford 1-0 in the first of two midweek fixtures, getting back to winning ways after a disappointing 1-1 draw with Chelsea at the weekend.

City closed the gap with Liverpool to just one point, with both teams having 13 games remaining. On paper, the Reds should have enough to beat Luton tonight, but Liverpool are dealing with a serious injury crisis right now. Ladbrokes takes a look at what could happen at Anfield in our Premier League predictions.

Premier League predictions

Liverpool to beat Luton – 2/9

Liverpool didn’t actually beat Luton the last time the two teams played, with the Reds relying on a late Luis Diaz equaliser to salvage a point against Rob Edwards’ side, and they go into tonight’s game with serious injury issues.

Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones were both withdrawn in the first half against Brentford on Saturday, joining the likes of Alisson Becker, Thiago, Joel Matip, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominik Szobszlai on the injury list. There are also fitness concerns over both Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez, both of whom are dealing with ‘muscle issues’ at the moment and might not play tonight.

That’s not all, as Liverpool also play Chelsea at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday. There’s always a chance that Klopp’s side overlook Luton, leading to an upset at Anfield this evening. With odds of 11/2 for a draw and 10/1 for a Luton, perhaps not going for a Liverpool win here could be worth a punt.

Despite that, we’re still going with a win for Liverpool, with odds of 2/9, in our Premier League predictions. Although they’ve got injury issues and a big cup final to play at the weekend, they simply have too much quality and depth to not pick up three points against Luton, 24 considering every dropped point makes the chances of Man City winning the Premier League more likely.

Premier League betting tips

As well as the results and Premier League predictions, below are some interesting bet builders that could be worth a punt for Liverpool v Luton.

Luis Diaz to score, Wataru Endo to be carded & both teams to score – 17/1

We end things with a bit of a long-shot here, picking Luis Diaz to score against Luton, just as he did in the reverse fixture at Kenilworth Road. For the rest of our bet builder, we’re going with the ever-improving Wataru Endo to end up getting carded, as well as both Liverpool and Luton to score during the game.

Diaz is almost certain to start, mainly down to Jota’s guaranteed absence and the fitness issues surrounding both Salah and Nunez. He’s expected to line-up alongside Cody Gakpo and Harvey Elliot in the front-line, so Liverpool’s attacks will likely go through him. Don’t be surprised to see him on the scoresheet here, which explains our bet.

Next, Liverpool might be top of the league, having won 17 of their 24 games, but even when they win they often concede at least one goal. So, we’re going with both teams to score here for our bet builder, as well as all-action midfielder Endo getting carded in what will likely be a hard-hitting affair.

Liverpool to win, over 2.5 goals in the match & Virgil van Dijk to score – 8/1

For our next bet builder in our Premier League predictions we’re going with Liverpool to beat Luton, there to be three or more goals in the game, and Virgil van Dijk to find himself on the scoresheet.

Always a threat from corners, Van Dijk will definitely not be rested for Liverpool here because of their absences elsewhere in the squad. Luton conceded from a set piece at the weekend against Man United, so if that happens again, don’t be surprised if its the big Dutchman who finds the back of the net, taking his tally to two for the season.

Liverpool arguably have three of their better midfielders unavailable in Jones, Szoboszlai and Thiago, so expect them not to dominate the ball as we usually expect them to do. This game has goals written all over it, explaining why we’ve gone for three or more to be scored at Anfield tonight.

For the final portion of our bet builder, which can be backed at 8/1 with Ladbrokes, we’re going with a Liverpool win, for the reasons previously mentioned.
