Now the 2024/25 Premier League season is mid-way through, Ladbrokes takes you through West Ham's squad, their chances of finishing in the top half and what their starting XI has been.

The Hammers have a new manager at the helm for the second half of the season, with ex-Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui being replaced by Graham Potter.

The Englishman will be hoping to guide West Ham back into the top half, with his side definitely even having the quality and tactical acumen to finish inside the top six had it not been for such a poor start to the season.

With all that said, Ladbrokes takes you through West Ham's squad for the current Premier League season, what their starting XI for the season has looked like, and their odds of finishing inside the top ten.

West Ham 2024 transfers

Fans of the Hammers would have been delighted with the club's confirmed summer business, with several top signings walking through the door at the Olympic Stadium.

First up, despite being scouted by several top clubs across Europe, including Liverpool, West Ham were able to emerge victorious in the race to sign highly-rated Brazilian teenager Luis Guilherme, who is expected to walk straight into the first team.

Crysencio Summerville and Niklas Fullkrug from Leeds and Dortmund respectively are two more of the Hammers' summer signings, with the Dutch winger and German striker expected to play from the off after impressing in the Championship and Bundesliga last season.

Max Kilman also reunited with Lopetegui, the manager he had whilst at Wolves, as a key signing in the centre of defence, with West Ham again beating the likes of Liverpool and Man United to his signature. Guido Rodriguez signs as a defensive midfield addition, joining as a free agent after his Real Betis deal expired.

Carlos Soler comes in from PSG on loan to replace James Ward-Prowse, who also completed a loan move, joining Nottingham Forest for the season.

West Ham United transfer news

Wes Foderingham has also joined the club as a free agent third-choice goalkeeper, moving after his contract with relegated Sheffield United expired.

Right-back was a position that the club were looking at, as was centre-back, and both have been filled. Aaron Wan-Bissaka signs from West Ham on a permanent deal, whilst Jean-Clair Todibo joins from Nice in France on an initial loan.

The outgoings will have pleased West Ham fans too, with Jarrod Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Lucas Paqueta all remaining at the club, despite links to other sides across Europe, and in the case of Paqueta, even his native Brazil.

Mohamadou Kante has joined the club from Paris FC, but the deal meant that Kante was immediately loaned back to his former club until the summer of 2025, so Hammers fans won't seen him in the Premier League for a good while.

Thilo Kehrer joined Monaco this summer, with Said Benrahma and Flynn Dowens also making their loan switches to Lyon and Southampton respectively permanent ones.

Maxwel Cornet, Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, Freddie Potts, Krisztian Hegyi and Callum Marshall will be spending the season on loan with Southampton, Al-Oroubah, Real Sociedad, Portsmouth, Motherwell in Scotland and Huddersfield respectively, whilst Nathan Trott has joined Copenhagen in Denmark on another permanent deal.

Ben Johnson, Divin Mubama, Joseph Anang and Angelo Ogbonna also all left the club at the end of the season, with their West Ham contracts expiring.

West Ham's 2024/25 starting XI

Alphonse Areola established himself as West Ham's number one last season, and while he started the campaign as number one, Lopetegui picked Lukas Fabianski more in recent weeks.

In front of the keeper, Konstaninos Mavropanos has partnered Kilman, with the Hammers unwilling to give highly-rated new signing Todibo regular minutes.

As for the wing-backs, Wan-Bissaka and Emerson, the latter of whom has a spell at Chelsea on his CV, are the two chosen to bomb up and down the wings.

As for the midfield two, those spots are filled by two of Soler, Tomas Soucek, Rodriguez and Edson Alvarez, with Paqueta able play there when he isn't being asked to move further forward.

Bowen plays either on the wing or as a number nine, with minutes as a striker being more frequent than the ex-Hull man would have thought going into the season due to the injuries suffered by Antonio and Fullkrug.

Kudus and Summerville fill out the other two spots in attack, with Danny Ings able to come in and play when the Hammers want a more natural nine in the side.

West Ham's 2024/25 odds

It's Liverpool who are the favourites to win next year's Premier League, beating out Man City, Chelsea and Arsenal to be the bookies' front-runners.

Back to West Ham, their start to the season has been so poor that the bookies aren't even taking bets on them to Champions League places for the first time come May 2025. They basically no chance of qualifying for Europe once again either, which is a real shame for Graham Potter and co.

Man City may be one of the favourites to win the Premier League, but they're also 12/1 to get relegated to the Championship next season, but that's because of a potential points deduction that could be coming Pep Guardiola's way.

West Ham are seen as more likely than Man City to beat the drop, with the bookies given the Hammers a 96% chance of remaining in the Premier League come May of next year.

Liverpool beat West Ham 5-0 in their final game of 2024, before Man City beat the Hammers 4-1 in the first game of the year, which takes place on January 4 and ended up being Lopetegui's last before he was sacked.

The return game against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium took place on February 22, ending in a 1-0 win for Graham Potter's side, before West Ham travel to Anfield to face Liverpool six weeks later on April 12.

The final few games of the season haven't been kind to West Ham, as they play Tottenham at home on May 3, Man United away on May 10, and relegation fighting Nottingham Forest and Ipswich in their final two games of the campaign on May 18 and 25.
