Premier League 24/25: Wolves squad, starting XI and odds
Published:
Now the 2024/25 Premier League season is mid-way through, Ladbrokes takes you through Wolves' squad, their chances of staying in the Premier League and what their starting XI has looked like so far.
Gary O'Neil did a great job as Wolves manager last season, taking his side to 14th in the table, but he was sacked and given his marching orders not even half-way through the current campaign.
Heading into the second half of the season in 2025, new manager Vitor Periera's only objective is to keep Wolves in the Premier League once again.
With all that said, Ladbrokes takes you through Wolves' squad for the current Premier League season, what their starting line-up has looked like this season, and their odds of staying in England's top-flight.
Wolves' 2024/25 squad
Below is the squad that Wolves have taken into the 2024/25 Premier League season, which is quite similar from the one they had last year.
- Jose Sa, Dan Bentley, Tom King, Arthur Nasta, Sam Johnstone
- Matt Dohtery, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Santiago Bueno, Yerson Mosquera, Craig Dawson, Nelson Semedo, Toti Gomes, Pedro Lima, Justin Hubner, Dexter Lembikisa, Bastien Meupiyou, Sebastian Lochhead, Saheed Olagunju
- Mario Lemina, Boubacar Traore, Joao Gomes, Tommy Doyle, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde, Luke Cundle, Andre
- Jorgen Strand Larsen, Hwang Hee-chan, Matheus Cunha, Sasa Kalajdzic, Rodrigo Gomes, Pablo Sarabia, Tawanda Chirewa, Goncalo Guedes, Enso Gonzalez, Nathan Fraser, Carlos Forbs
The squad breakdown shows that Wolves have quite a few attackers, so perhaps they'll be some movement in that department in terms of outgoings in the transfer market in January.

Wolves 2024 transfers
Wolves are dealing with financial issues at the moment, which has impacted the business they've been able to do in the summer transfer market in terms of confirmed deals.
For example, Jorgen Strand Larsen joins the club on an initial loan deal from Celta Vigo, with that only becoming permanent at the end of the 2024/25 season. Sam Johnstone has also signed from Crystal Palace, and is expected to serve as the club's number one.
Tommy Doyle's loan move from Man City was made permanent this summer though, with talented winger Rodrigo Gomes joining the club from Braga too.
Bastien Meupiyou is a highly-rated defender joining from French club Nantes, both with an eye to the future and as someone who can come in and make an immediate impact.
Wolves beat Chelsea to the signing of the highly-rated Pedro Lima, with some reports even claiming that the Blues had agreed a deal to sign the defender before Wolves swooped in. However, Chelsea got their own back, taking Pedro Netro to Stamford Bridge on a deal that could reach in excess of £60m.
Who players who will be linking up with the young squads after signing are Sebastian Lochhead and Saheed Olagunju, who sign from Dundee and Chelsea respectively.
Andre also signs from Fluminese in Brazil, whilst Carlos Forbs has moved from Ajax to Wolves on a loan move.
Arthur Nasta also joined the club, with the young goalkeeper more of a signing for the future rather than one that will be expected to make an impact this season.
As for outgoings though, club captain Max Kilman left for West Ham to reunite with former boss Julen Lopetegui, whilst Oliver Tipton joined Solihull Moors.
Fabio Silva, Chem Campbell, Chiquinho, Joe Hodge, Marvin Kaleta, Tawanda Chirewa, Ki-Jana Hoever and Hugo Bueno also departed the club, but only on a temporary basis, as they'll be playing their football on loan at Las Palmas, Reading, RCD Mallorca, Huddersfield, Motherwell in Scotland, at Derby in the Championship, at Auxerre in France and at Feyenoord in the Netherlands for the forthcoming campaign.

Wolves' 2024/25 starting XI
Wolves have kept their back five, despite major defensive injury issues, with the club opting for Johnstone as his starting goalkeeper from the off.
Nelson Semedo will plays at right wing-back, with Matt Doherty able to come in when needed, whilst Rayan Ait-Nouri will be the left wing-back, having remained at the club despite interest from Liverpool.
The centre-backs sees Craig Dawson and Toti Gomes continue as the starters, with Santiago Bueno coming in to fill the void left by Kilman's departure. When one of the defenders is out injured, Mario Lemina fills in there.
The midfield is made up of Andre, Lemina and Joao Gomes, with Doyle and Jean-Richer Bellegarde also able to be called upon if needed.
Wolves have a wealth of options in the front-line, but Matheus Cunha playing whenever fit, with Carlos Forbs, Pablo Sarabia, Goncalco Guedes and new signing Strand Larsen providing serious depth.
Wolves' Premier League odds
The bookies have given Wolves an 92% shot at staying in the Premier League next season, so despite finishing towards the top half of the the bottom half last year, there seems to be a feeling that they aren't good enough to not be thinking about getting relegated.
Interestingly, Wolves' odds of getting relegation aren't too far off to the reigning Premier League champions, with Man City at 12/1 to drop down to the Championship. However, that seems to be because of a potential points deduction, but based on on-pitch merits.

For those interested, Liverpool are the favourites to win next year's Premier League title, ahead of Nottingham Forest, Man City, Chelsea and Mikel Arteta's Arsenal.
Wolves' Premier League 2024/25 fixtures
Wolves kicked off their Premier League season with one of the hardest games available, an away trip to London to face Arsenal on August 17 which they lost 2-0. Newcastle travelled to Wolves on September 15, drawing that game 2-2, before they had to face Aston Villa on September 21 in a local derby, which ended in a 3-1 loss.
