QPR spoilt for choice in search for next manager

Since Chris Ramsey’s departure at Queens Park Rangers, the west-London club have been linked with a host of well-known names to take over at the Championship club.
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has emerged as the frontrunner to replace Chris Ramsey at Queens Park Rangers, but faces a stern challenge from a host of big names for the Loftus Road gig.
The former Chelsea striker is current 6/4 favourite to take the helm in Shepherd’s Bush, after leading Burton Albion to the League 2 title last year.
With Burton currently flying high in League 1, the Dutchman has been in high demand, with the club rejecting approaches from other teams already this season.
Whether Hasselbaink would give up such a good thing at Burton remains to be seen, and he isn’t the only name on QPR’s list, with Tim Sherwood second favourite at 7/4.
Despite a difficult spell at Aston Villa, the former Tottenham boss is well regarded in many circles, and Sherwood’s White Hart Lane connections with Les Ferdinand might make him rather appealing in the betting.
What may hurt Sherwood’s chances however is a lack of management experience outside of the Premier League, something current caretaker boss at QPR Neil Warnock has in spades.
The ever-vocal Warnock turns 67 in December, and would only be a short-term solution, but at 5/1 he could be the one Rangers turn to if it’s promotion in the next 18 months they are after.
Nigel Pearson is also in the frame, with the former Leicester manager out of work since leaving the King Power Stadium in the summer.
Having secured the Foxes’ place in the Premier League, Pearson is 8/1 to take the reins at Loftus Road, though rumours in the press suggest he may be holding out for a job in the top tier.
Should Pearson think otherwise however, QPR represent one of the best chances of returning to the big league in the near future.
Things could take a continental turn for Rangers fans with Michael Laudrup a 12/1 shot. Rangers don’t have too many connections with Barcelona and Real Madrid, but the former Denmark international performed admirably in his first role in England with Swansea.
A League Cup trophy was the highlight in 2013, and though a poor run of form saw him leave the club 12 months later, the 51-year-old would certainly bring a touch of European magic to west London.
After that? Well it’s a case of take your pick. David Moyes, Brendan Rodgers, Ian Holloway and Uwe Rosler are all priced at 16/1 with Ladbrokes, while Harry Redknapp, Gianfranco Zola and Gus Poyet are also in the mix, albeit at 20/1.
Rangers have gone through a few managers down the years, but the attraction remains the same. A club which can compete in the Premier League, and attract big names. No wonder the list is so long…
