Ricky Hatton confirms sensational return to boxing, odds-on for comeback fight

British boxing legend Ricky Hatton is coming out of retirement for a sensational return to the ring this December, and "The Hitman" has been installed as the odds-on favourite with Ladbrokes for his stunning comeback fight.

Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton is set to fight again 13 years after his retirement, and before an announcement is made on the rules, the former welterweight and light-welterweight world champion is the heavy favourite.

Hatton's last fight was in 2012 when he lost to Vyacheslav Senchenko, but the Mancunian remains one of Britain’s most iconic boxing figures. He’ll be 47 by the time he laces up the gloves to face the 46-year-old UAE fighter Eisa Al Dah in Dubai this December.

Cal Gildart of Ladbrokes said:

First Oasis, now Ricky Hatton! There’s clearly something in Manchester City fans’ water when it comes to surprise returns. He might not have fought since 2012, but the odds suggest he’ll be making a triumphant comeback.

The fight is expected to take place under exhibition rules, though official confirmation on bout details is yet to be announced. The Hitman's professional record stands at 45-3 from 48 fights, with 32 wins by KO.

Hatton joins a growing list of boxing greats making a return to the ring in recent years, including his former opponent Manny Pacquiao, who has a world title fight against Mario Barrios scheduled for July 19.

While nobody expects the fierce Stockport native to return to world championship level, his loyal fans will be eager to see if the ‘Hitman’ can roll back the years for one last memorable night.

It's set to be a bumper year of boxing, with Oleksandr Usyk and Daniel Dubois also set to square off on July 19 for the Undisputed World Heavyweight title.
