Roaring Lion 7/1 from 16/1 for the Derby after Dante Stakes success

Roaring Lion has seen his odds of winning the Epsom Derby dramatically cut after bolting up in the Dante Stakes at York.

John Gosden’s charge won the Group 2 contest by 4½l from second-favourite Mildenberger in a dominant performance over the 1m2f distance.

He’s been cut to just 7/1 from 16/1 for next month’s Derby as a result.

Saxon Warrior remains the favourite for the third Classic of the season at 4/5.

Aidan O’Brien’s star has won four from four in his career so far, including the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket last month.

He saw off the likes of Masar, Gustav Klimt and the aforementioned Roaring Lion that day to put himself at the top of the tree where the market is concerned for the Derby.

Young Rascal is available at 10/1 after his ½l triumph in the Chester Vase Stakes earlier in the month.

Williams Haggas’ raider is joined by Hazapour at the same price, ahead of Masar at 14/1 and a whole host of names at 16/1.
