Saara may be Matt Terry’s only challenger for X Factor crown
Published:
She’s faced three Sing Offs since the live shows began, and has been favourite to leave the competition on more than one occasion. But now it looks as though Saara Alto could challenge Matt Terry for the title of X Factor 2016 winner.
At 9/4, Sharon Osbourne’s last remaining act is now the shortest price she’s ever been to win the show. Granted, Matt may still be the favourite, as he has been since the live shows began. But as we approach the final two weeks, it’s Saara who’s being backed the most.
Long-time second-favourite Emily Middlemas is now 10/1 to cause an upset, while 5 After Midnight, who found themselves in the Bottom Two for the first time last week, are now the show’s outsiders at 12/1.
One more act will be sent packing this weekend before the final three battle it out for the X Factor crown. And as things stand it’s 5 After Midnight who’ll miss out on a spot on next week’s final, with 6/5 saying they’re sent home in the penultimate week.
Meanwhile, you can get odds of 6/4 for Emily to leave the competition next, while 4/1 says it’s Saara who finally leaves the show.
And that may well be good value if she finds herself in the Bottom Two. It would be the fourth time the Finn will have found herself in a Sing Off which would mean the judges would almost have to send her home.
However, if she survives a Sing Off, it’ll emphasise just how well she’s done to win the public over in recent weeks and she could pose a real threat to Matt’s chances of winning.
We’ve only seen three Over 25 contestants win the show since it began back in 2004. But Saara might just join the likes of Ben Haenow, Sam Bailey and Steve Brookstein in X Factor history.
