Sam Allardyce now strong favourite for the England job
Published:
Sam Allardyce has been backed into 11/10 favouritism to succeed Roy Hodgson as England manager this summer.
The Sunderland manager has seen his odds tumble from 10/1, following a host of bets backing Big Sam for the role.
Current USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann is next in the betting at 7/2, with Eddie Howe 9/1 following his impressive time at Bournemouth.
Former Three Lions manager Glenn Hoddle is 14s to return to the job, the same price as former Netherlands and Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink.
A Ladbrokes spokesperson said: “Allardyce is finding plenty of favour among punters, and Big Sam is now strong favourite to lead the Three Lions into the next chapter.”
England will kick-off their new era away in Slovakia, for the first game of qualifying for World Cup 2018.
In a group also featuring Scotland, Slovenia, Lithuania and Malta, the Three Lions are 1/4 favourites to top the group for Russia 2018.
