2:30, Chesham Stakes – Tailgunner Joe

Dylan Cunha is a great trainer, and I’ve had a great strike rate with him since he started. Tailgunner Joe is a newcomer, but Dylan wouldn’t be sending him to Royal Ascot unless he had a chance. Because it’s his first race, I’ll rely on what Dylan tells me on the day and work from there.

5:00, Wokingham Stakes – Woodhay Wonder

Woodhay Wonder is a very good sprinter who likes the track at Ascot. She ran well last time out. Obviously, the Wokingham is a difficult race to win, but she’s good at the weights – she’s got an advantage in that regard – and I’ll imagine she’ll be very competitive. She’s placed twice here at 5f, and I don’t think the step up is going to hinder her by any means. She’s a very fast filly and has always been prominent at 5f, getting over the line and galloping quite strong. So I’d imagine the extra furlong won’t hinder her.

5:35, Golden Gates Stakes – Rock Of Cashel

Rock Of Cashel is a horse with plenty of ability, no doubt about that. He’s top weight, and top weight is always difficult to carry around Ascot. But at the same time, he’s got a lot of ability, very well-bred and he’s trained by Aidan O’Brien, so he’s not without his chances.

The weather

To cope with the heat, you’ve just got to keep as hydrated as you possibly can. But to be honest with you, it’s not easy. I’m not too bad with the heat, but even I found yesterday difficult, and it’s only going to get hotter.
