Set-betting boosts 1st round SW19 22/1 accumulator
Published:Murray 3-1 Becker @ 7/2
Benjamin Becker’s last match was a straight-set defeat to Andy Murray at the Aegon Championships, but the 32-year-old pushed Murray hard, only going down 6-4 7-6.
Murray has lost the opening set in his last two matches however, and in the extended format of the game at Wimbledon, is liable to drop a set or two along the way.
The Scot dropped sets in all bar two rounds last year en route to a four-set final loss to Roger Federer, and it’s not beyond reason that Becker could catch Murray napping in these early stages and force him to work that little bit harder.
Berdych 3-1 Klizan @ 3/1
Tomas Berdych boasts some impressive victories in recent weeks, with the world number six beating Murray in Madrid and then Novak Djokovic in Rome.
The Czech lost last time out to Marin Cilic however at the Aegon Championships, and came a cropper against world number 62 Gael Monfils in the opening round of the French Open, so there’s hope to be had for world number 35 Martin Klizan to grab a set here, although Berdych should have far too much talent for a surprising early exit.
Novak Djokovic 3-0 Florian Mayer @ 2/9
Novak Djokovic has never lost a set against German Florian Mayer in their three previous meetings, and the Serbian hasn’t dropped a single set in the opening two rounds of Wimbledon since 2010.
To add to 29-year-old Mayer’s woes, four of his last five defeats have come with a 0-2 scoreline, with three of those at the racquets of players ranked in the planet’s top 15.
That sort of form doesn’t hold much hope for Mayer against the world number one in the opening round at SW19.
The total value of this accumulator treble is 22/1
