Spurs move for Man United’s sulking star closer after comments

Aside from dull England performances, the international break is always good for one thing: foreign Premier League players speaking their mind to their home nation’s media about a lack of playing time at club level.

Javier Hernandez didn’t let us down in that regard, airing his feelings in Mexico about his situation at Manchester United saying: “I’m very eager to play as my club don’t take me much into account.”

That Hernandez has made six combined starts in the top flight and Champions League is baffling considering the struggles the Old Trafford club are enduring in both competitions this season.

Moyes’ men are 14/1 no-hopers to finish in the top four and 15/8 to qualify over Olympiacos in the Champions League.

It looks increasingly likely that this season’s battles will be Hernandez’s last in Manchester red, with Moyes clearly loathe to trust the Mexican despite a glowing record of 33 Premier League goals in 77 appearances.

As his future with the Red Devils continues to crumble like a budget cookie, the number of suitors for his signature are set to grow after these latest comments.

They’ll all have to form an orderly queue behind Tottenham though, who will be in the market for a nippy finisher having lost their chief hero in that role, Jermain Defoe, to the glittering lights of Toronto FC.

With Defoe now gone, it leaves Spurs with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado as their only two senior striking options.

Should Tim Sherwood successfully steer the Tottenham ship into the top four this term, something he’s 5/1 to do, then he’ll need at least one more frontline goal-getter in order to share the load with the Togolese and Spaniard.

With Soldado struggling to make an impact in his debut season in England too, buying a player well-versed in English football will surely appeal to the White Hart Lane deal-makers.
