Swansea v Valencia: Los Ches to exact revenge in Wales

Published:

Swansea must replicate the heroics they mustered in the Mestalla and beat Valencia in order to ensure progress to the knockout phase of the Europa League.

With two games still to play in Group A, victory is not imperative as the Swans remain five points clear of third-place Swiss outfit, St Gallen, but with Los Ches already ensured of advancement, a punt on the home team’s 1/1 for victory at the Liberty must appeal.

The Spanish side arrive in south Wales on the back of winning three successive Europa League matches since their shock reverse at home to Swansea in the opening game, but remain 11/4 underdogs to make that four straight successes. The draw is a 12/5 alternative match bet with Ladbrokes.

The win that will guarantee an easy night for Swansea in week six will be hard to come by, even if the visitors have qualification sewn up, given that in their previous three outings in Europe’s second-string competition they’ve allowed the attackers off the leash.

Miroslav Djukic’s men have registered a total of 10 goals in Europe and they scored at least two goals in their previous two Group A road trips.

This makes the 21/10 available for over 1.5 away goals scored here an enticing prospect.

Swansea, in stark contrast to Valencia’s flushness, have found goals in much leaner supply. Since famously notching three in northern Spain, they have scored exactly one goal in each of the three games to follow.

Assuming both sides will keep up appearances in the scoring stakes, a wager on the total result being a Valencia win with over 2.5 goals scored looks the bet to get on board with at 11/2.

Three of Swansea’s five domestic losses have seen 2.5 goals bagged in the match, while two of Valencia’s last three European triumphs have also satisfied this criterion.
