Murray defeat to Djokovic tops our BNP Paribas Masters picks

Published:

It’s quarter-final day at the Paris Masters, and the match that tops the bill sees an in-form Andy Murray face off against Novak Djokovic.

However, we’re not predicting a great day for the British number one, with a straightforward Djokovic victory one of our three best bets.

Milos Raonic v Roger Federer: Tiebreak in the match @ 4/9

The Swiss legend is a massive 1/4 favourite to win this match, unsurprisingly short odds considering he has won all six of the pair’s past encounters, meaning that punters seeking value will have to look elsewhere.

The better bet is to back there to be a tiebreak in the match, with four of their six matches seeing at least one set decided in this fashion.

Federer has played out two tiebreak sets in Paris already, both against Jeremy Chardy in his first match, while each of Raonic’s two games have involved one 7-6 set.

Novak Djokovic to beat Andy Murray 2-0 @ 5/6

The Scot’s second-round win over Grigor Dimitrov ensured he would take his place at the ATP Tour Finals in London and extended a terrific recent run that included victory in Valencia.

However, Djokovic has bested Murray in all three of their matches this season, dropping only one set in the process.

The Serbian last lost to Murray on a hard court in the US Open final back in 2012, and won their most recent encounter in straight sets at the China Open earlier this month.

Over 22.5 games in David Ferrer v Kei Nishikori @ 8/11

The pair have already played out two tight matches that have gone well over the 22.5 game mark this year, with Nishikori winning both in three sets.

Although Ferrer showed awesome form to dismantle Fernando Verdasco 6-1 6-2 in the last round, his first match against David Goffin saw 26 games played.

For his part, both of Nishikori’s matches in Paris have been lengthy affairs that have gone over 22.5 games, with each of his last five in total hitting the mark.
