Tiger Woods favourite to top score as Presidents Cup approaches

Tiger Woods and Steve Stricker have been paired together again as the USA look to collect their fourth consecutive Presidents Cup title.

Woods, looking somewhere close to his best, was impressive in finishing third in the Australian Open, finishing five-under during his final round chase to leave him two shots short of eventual winner Greg Chalmers.

Tiger is 6/1 to be top points scorer within the tournament for the US, and that price would have been unthinkable in recent Presidents Cups.

Since his well documented off-course problems, however, Tiger Woods odds have lengthened to such a great extent that there may never be a better time to take advantage and back the man whose Majors haul is bested only by Jack Nicklaus.

Teammate Stricker is available at 9/1 to top-score and, having sat in the top ten of the world rankings since 2007, the 11-time PGA Tour winner should not be underestimated in the betting.

Their first day opponents will provide intrigue and possible controversy in the form of Adam Scott and KJ Choi.

Steve Williams, the former caddie of Woods and a man recently embroiled within a racism storm with the star, now carries the bags for Scott, and the Australian will be looking to avoid any distractions as he looks to justify his 6/1 price as second favourite to be top International points scorer.

Teammate Choi is a lengthier 8/1 to outscore all International team-mates, and the two will have to be at the top of their game from the off to stand any sort of chance, as Woods and Stricker have failed to drop a single point as a Presidents Cup team in the past.

Woods and Stricker are 11/10 to win the foursomes, with Scott and Choi 5/4 and the tie available at 5/1.
