Twitter reacts as Sunderland beat Man Utd

Published:

Sunderland have only won three matches at home all season and haven’t beaten Manchester United on their own turf since 1997, but that has all changed.

The Mackems emerged with a 2-1 victory against the 13-time Premier League champions in their latest encounter to give their chances of survival a real boost.

A David De Gea own goal decided the match after Anthony Martial had cancelled out Wahbi Khazri’s earlier effort and the Red Devils remain six points behind the top four.

Here’s how Twitter reacted:

De Gea was obviously a focus of a lot of social media attention following his own goal.

Another United player to get a lot of attention was 21-year-old Donald Love, with the Scottish youngster making his debut the day before Valentines day.

The result left Sunderland fans in a joyous move as they have a real chance of getting out of trouble.

However, Guardian journalist Jonathan Wilson took a less than positive spin on proceedings.
