Will Kane have to move away from Tottenham for Ballon d’Or success?
Published:
Harry Kane will have to leave Tottenham Hotspur to have a chance of winning the Ballon d’Or, according to our odds.
The Spurs ace made the 2017 shortlist for the coveted gong but is rated as an 80/1 shot to usurp current holder Cristiano Ronaldo.
And there’ll have to be a serious swing in the votes if Ronaldo is to miss out on the top prize again this year.
Going for a record-equalling fifth Ballon d’Or Trophy, the Portuguese ace is 1/50 to take home the award.
Next best is Lionel Messi at 14/1, while Neymar is 50/1 to land a maiden gong.
For Kane to stand a better chance of dining at football’s top table we reckon he could be in need of a move away from North London.
We go 5/1 for the England ace to one day win the Ballon d’Or, compared with odds of 10/1 for him to win it with Spurs.
Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Kane’s inclusion in the 30-man shortlist is great news for England and Spurs fans, but the latter set of supporters may have to accept they’ll lose their main man before seeing him celebrate a Ballon d’Or win.”
