Wolves v Brentford betting tips and odds
Wolves’ fruitless start to the season ended on Saturday with an impressive 2-0 victory at Watford and they are 10/11 to beat Premier League newcomers Brentford.
Despite losing their first three games without scoring, Wolves had a very tough start to the season and they were unlucky not to beat Manchester United.
The Bees lost for the first time this season at the weekend, so we’re looking at how both teams could fare in our Wolves v Brentford betting tips.
Match Odds
All eight matches involving Wolves and Brentford have produced two goals or fewer so it’s no surprise to see that market available at 1/2.
However, statistical data suggests Wolves should be much higher in the table with their expected goals total in attack the fifth highest in the division.
Bruno Lage’s side are 27/20 to win and under 3.5 goals or they can be backed at 7/4 for a victory without conceding bearing in mind Brentford have scored just once in their last three games.
Wolves’ last two matches have been goalless at the break which is available at 5/4, while it’s 20/23 on a draw which has been the case in three of Brentford’s games.
Lage’s men are 12/5 to win either 1-0 or 2-0, while we go 10/3 on Draw HT/Wolves FT, or a share of the spoils is priced at 11/5 bearing in mind Brentford were close to earning a third successive point at the weekend only for Brighton to score a last-minute winner.
Brentford should be sixth in the table using expected goals data so they cannot be ruled out and are 18/5 to win or 20/23 in the double chance market.
Talking Tactics
Lage picked the same starting line-up that lost to Manchester United for the win at Vicarage Road, but Daniel Podence and Hwang Hee-chan made telling contributions from off the bench, with the latter sealing the points on his debut.
With a first win under his belt Lage should go with the same XI in a 4-3-3 in which Raul Jimenez is supported by Adama Traore and Francisco Trincao in attack.
Bees boss Thomas Frank is likely to play a 3-5-2 once again in which Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo start in attack.
Goalscorer Odds
The teams have scored a combined five goals in their four matches so a low-scoring affair could be on the cards at Molineux.
Jimenez is the 10/3 favourite to get the ball rolling, with Bees striker Toney not far behind at 9/2, with both men 6/4 and 9/4 to score respectively.
Trincao is 14/5 to find the net and South Korean forward Hwang is 12/5 to add to his debut goal as one of our Wolves v Brentford betting tips.
Mbeumo had several chances to score against Brighton at the weekend but failed to take his opportunities, so he is 4/1 to breach Wolves’ defence, while Sergi Canos and Christian Norgaard are 5/1 and 18/1 to repeat their heroics against Arsenal.
