Punters favour Arsenal ahead of new WSL season

Ladbrokes have revealed what the final Women’s Super League standings might look like, according to bets placed so far.

With the new WSL season starting on October 1, Arsenal, who finished third last season and are 7/4 second favourites for the title, lead the way in the popularity charts.

Elsewhere, despite winning four titles in a row, evens favourites Chelsea are just the third best-backed side to go all the way, with Manchester United second as things stand.

United signed Spain’s World Cup winner Irene Guerrero from Atletico Madrid on transfer deadline day and they have been boosted by the news England Lionesses goalkeeper Mary Earps will be staying at the club until at least January despite interest from Arsenal.

Aston Villa (500/1) make up the top four in terms of bets placed, while Bristol City (1000/1) would finish bottom of the league if the latest figures are anything to go by.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: “Punters firmly believe Chelsea’s WSL bubble is about to burst, with Arsenal running away with things in the popularity charts as things stand.”
