The winner is automatically promoted to the Premiership, replacing the team that finished bottom of the table.
The teams finishing third and fourth are involved in a two-legged play-off in which the winner takes on the side that ended second in the table.
The winner of that meets the team that finished 11th in the Premiership to determine which team starts next season in the top flight.
