How to bet on football
At Ladbrokes there are hundreds of matches you can bet on each week and the options are wide ranging.
The most popular of our football bets is the match result in which there are just three options - a home win, draw or away win.
However, you can combine your selection with another match on your bet slip in a double, so that, for example, Team A and Team B must both win for a successful outcome.
Combining three matches together is called a treble, and four and above is an accumulator or acca for short.
The more matches you combine, the higher the football betting odds and with it an increasing level of difficulty.
Of course, the match result is just one option among the dozens we have available for each game and Ladbrokes have made it much easier to help navigate your way through the site.
One of the most popular markets for football betting is the both teams to score option which is exactly what it says. Both sides must score for a successful bet or conversely you can go the other way and predict that at least one team will fail to find the net.
Ladbrokes produce a both teams to score betting tips article every weekend or whenever there is midweek action, usually on Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
In general, the odds are higher with the ‘both teams to score: no’ option but that’s not always the case and these types of football bets can also be put together in an acca either in the same market (win, both teams to score etc..) or using a combination of different options.
Other popular bets include under/over 2.5 goals in which you predict whether the match will produce either fewer or more than three goals.
There are also football odds for over 3.5, 4.5, 5.5 goals etc…and as you would expect the more times the ball hits the back of the net, the higher the pay-out.
Correct score is another popular option in which you must nail the at the end of the match 1-1, 1-3 or 2-1.
Ladbrokes also offer many half-time markets, so it is possible to bet on the result after 45 minutes or both teams to score before the break which offer higher football odds.
There are times when you are not sure whether a team will win, but you are confident they will not lose.
In this instance you can take advantage of either the double chance or draw/no bet market. With the former you can place a single bet that Team A will win or draw, although because you have two winning options the football betting odds are lower.
In the draw/no bet market, a win is classified as a successful outcome, but your stake is returned should the teams share the points or be level after 90 minutes in the case of a knockout game.
One interesting area of football betting is the market in which you can back the first player to break the deadlock or simply pick the same player to find the net at lower odds.
At higher odds, a player can be backed to score at least twice or even a hat-trick which would bring even bigger check the team sheet before kick-off!
These are just a selection of markets we have available in match betting, but let’s explore further what we have to offer on Ladbrokes.
Football betting odds
As we mentioned in the ‘How to bet on Football’ section, we offer options on In-Play, Specials and Outrights, but what do they mean?
In football betting, it is possible not only to bet on the outcome at the end of a match but also during the game or in-play.
The odds on backing a team to win when they are losing after 20 minutes will be much higher than if the stake was placed before kick-off.
Other options, amongst several others, include backing the next team to score or winning to nil goals have not already been scored at both ends.
In the Outrights section, we offer options on outcomes at the end of a competition or a season, such as which team you think will win the Premier League, the FA Cup or World Cup.
However, there are also lots of options within individual competitions, such as a team finishing in the top four, being relegated or promoted.
Picking the player to be top scorer at the end of the Premier League campaign is popular with those who like football betting as interest runs throughout the whole season, so you are cheering on the same player each week.
In the Specials section, you can get price boosts or bet on the Premier League sack race, which means predicting which top-flight manager will be the next to leave.
Alternatively, we offer football odds on who will take the reins next at a club where there is a vacancy - a very fluctuating market!
There are so many options at Ladbrokes, so why not see for yourself in our football section.
