3 reasons we’re tipping Ross County for victory at Motherwell

Ross County betting news

After an impressive opening day victory at Dundee, Ross County were narrowly edged out in their second Ladbrokes Premiership game by a strong Aberdeen side.

However, we think it’ll be a case of away-day joy once again for the Staggies this weekend, as they head to Fir Park to face Motherwell.

Here’s why we’re tipping Jim McIntyre’s men for victory.

Fir Park record and recent away form bode well

With Motherwell in need of some cheer after successive league defeats, this probably isn’t the fixture Well boss Ian Barraclough would have wanted. County have won on two of their last three visits to this part of Lanarkshire, with the Steelmen winning just one of the previous six meetings here.

The Staggies are also enjoying an impressive run of results on the road this season. The Dingwall club have come out on top in all three of their away games thus far, including that 2-1 victory at Dens Park and a 6-0 mauling of Montrose in the League Cup.

Hotshot Curran enjoying a real purple patch

While County’s early season successes have been a team effort, one man in particular has stood out – Craig Curran. The 27-year-old striker has bagged five goals in his previous six outings, including one against Motherwell.

With the Steelmen having shipped four goals away to St Johnstone last time out, there’s little doubt a player of Curran’s form and quality can make them pay.

As well as some ice-cool finishing, the Liverpudlian proved his threat in the air with a tidy header to give County the lead against Aberdeen. Simply put, he’s dangerous for defences in any situation right now, so the 21/10 for the striker to find the net looks very generous indeed.

Suspensions & Saints hammering are bad omens for Steelmen

Without trying to be too harsh on the hosts, it’s hard to see how last weekend’s visit to McDiarmid Park could have gone any worse. Motherwell were thumped 4-1 by St Johnstone, with the ill-disciplined visitors ending the game with just eight men on the field.

That flurry of red cards can only benefit the Staggies, who face a side missing regular starters like Charles Dunne and Carl McHugh, as well as first-choice keeper Trevor Carson. Add that to last Saturday’s chaotic showing in Perth, and we think the visitors will thrive at Fir Park.

There’s 7/5 on offer for Ross County simply to win, while the -1 handicap on the Staggies could prove popular at 15/4.
