AC Milan will win either the Champions League or Serie A

High-profile transfer signings bring heaps of expectation and it’s no different at AC Milan this season, except this time the pressure is coming from within the team.

With the arrivals of Zlatan Ibrahimovich and Robinho to the San Siro, AC Milan centre back, Thiago Silva, believes the club is destined for silverware this year, and the trophy cabinet can expect to hold a Champions League or Serie A prize come the end of the season.

“The club has conducted a fantastic transfer campaign,” said Silva, “I’m not going to say that we’ll win the Champions League and the Scudetto, but we’ll realise at least one of these two objectives.”

Ibrahimovich and Robinho will join Alexandre Pato, Ronaldinho and Flippo Inzaghi as strikers, leaving AC Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri with a wealth of talent to choose from.

The Serie A season is only one game old but Milan subjected newly-promoted Lecce to a 4-0 defeat with goals from Pato (2), Inzaghi and Silva, and they will want to stop their rivals FC Internazionale from claiming their sixth league title in a row – Milan are 9/4 to win Serie A.

The Rossoneri continue their Serie A season with a trip to Cesena where they are 1/2 to come away with all three points before opening their Champions League campaign with a home tie against Auxerre.

Milan are 5/2 to top a group that includes Real Madrid, Ajax and Auxerre and are 20/1 to win the Champions League.

Allegri will be hoping they can go further than last year when they were knocked out by Manchester United at the second round stage.

Barcelona are favourites for the Champions League at 11/4. See the full UEFA Champions League betting market here.
