Aldershot register surprise win away at Torquay United

Published:

Aldershot’s win at Plainmoor was Torquay’s second straight home defeat and Paul Buckle’s side are in danger of losing their way in League Two.

Torquay have taken just two points from their last five games which has seen them slip from top spot in League Two to sixth, eight points behind leaders Port Vale.

Torquay were as short as 5/1 to win League Two at the start of September but their poor form has seen them slip to 10/1 in the League Two football betting odds market.

With just two goals in the five matches, Buckle knows his side need to be more ruthless in front of goal if they are to continue challenging for the League Two title.

Torquay are away to fourth placed Shrewsbury on Saturday in a huge game for both sides in the race for the league title – Torquay are 11/4 to win.

Shrewsbury lost to league leaders Port Vale on Tuesday night and will want to recover quickly if they are to make up the five point deficit that currently divides the two teams, and they are 1/1 to win at home.

So early on in the season, Shrewsbury’s loss to Port Vale isn’t irrevocable and the Shrews offer some value in the League Two winners market at 8/1.

Manager Graham Turner will be satisfied with his sides start and the tie against out of form Torquay provides Shrewsbury with the perfect opportunity to bounce straight back.

Port Vale’s win puts them four points clear at the top and they are 7/2 favourites to win League Two.

Rotherham continue to push the leaders and are 7/1 to win League Two. See the full League Two football betting odds market here.
