Football acca tips for Saturday

With Christmas on the horizon, we have wrapped up our Premier League and Football League tips in one tidy box and stuck it under the tree.

Santa has delivered an absolute cracker just two days before his arrival as Liverpool host Premier League leaders Arsenal in a top-of-the-table clash.

That match is included in Saturday’s football acca tips and we also have one each from the other three divisions which can be backed in a four-fold acca at 40/1.

Liverpool v Arsenal (Sat, 17.30, Sky Sports)

Sunday’s goalless draw between Liverpool and Manchester United was a classic Christmas snooze fest, but Saturday’s game is likely to make everyone sit up and take notice.

The Gunners took full advantage of the draw at Anfield by returning to the top of the table with a 2-0 victory over Brighton, who failed to score for the first time this season.

Liverpool are 27/20 favourites to beat 9/5 shots Arsenal, but we prefer to concentrate on the goals angle for this fixture which regularly produces plenty of thrills and spills.

The last 10 encounters between these teams at Anfield have involved at least four match goals, so at 8/5 we’ll kick off our football acca tips with that market.

Plymouth v Birmingham

There is nothing to split these teams in terms of points in the Championship table, but we’re on board Plymouth to win at 6/5 as the next leg of our acca.

The teams are just six points clear of the relegation zone, but the Pilgrims have the best home record in the division outside the top four, having won seven of their 11 games.

Plymouth have taken 13 points from a possible 15 in their last five games at Home Park and although manager Steven Schumacher has been heavily linked with the Stoke vacancy, confidence will be high ahead of the visit of Birmingham, who had lost eight successive games on the road before they ended that horrible run with a 1-0 victory at Cardiff.

Wayne Rooney’s side lost a five-goal thriller at home to leaders Leicester on Monday night and another defeat looks on the cards against a team that thrives in front of their own supporters.

Northampton v Oxford

In League One, promotion hopefuls Oxford finally got their first victory under new manager Des Buckingham last weekend, but they remain shaky favourites at 6/5 to win at Sixfields.

Two goals from Ruben Rodrigues and one from Marcus McGuane earned United a comfortable 3-0 victory against Burton to end a four-match winless run.

Northampton, meanwhile, are on a decent run of form having won four and drawn one of their last six games which included a 2-1 victory at play-off-chasing Blackpool.

Oxford haven’t had much luck at this ground in recent years, so the Cobblers to win at 9/4 stands out as the next of our football acca tips.

Sutton v Mansfield

Saturday’s tips conclude at Gander Green Lane where Sutton’s return to the fifth tier is starting to look inevitable after they were mauled 8-0 by leaders Stockport last weekend which spelt the end of Matt Gray’s reign as manager.

They have had more luck at home where all three victories have taken place, but Mansfield are likely to prove too hot for them on Saturday.

The fourth-placed Stags got back to winning ways with a 3-1 victory at Crawley which was their fourth win in five on the road.

Their last eight matches have involved at least three match goals and they lost every match that way against teams above Mansfield in the table, so we’ll take the visitors to win that way at 29/20 as the last of our football acca tips.
