Erling Haaland still just about the odds-on favourite to retain his crown in the outright Premier League top goalscorer odds.
It’s all to play for in the race for the Golden Boot in the Premier League, with several key names still fighting it out for the crown of the top scorer for the 2023/24 season, with just a few games left to be played for most sides.
Haaland is leading the charts at the moment with 21 goals, and Ladbrokes now has the Norwegian striker at just 4/11 to win the Golden Boot this season. With several other names not far behind in terms of goals scored, Ladbrokes takes you through the other candidates.
Erling Haaland - 21 goals
As noted, Haaland leads the goalscoring charts at the time of writing, with 21 goals. Ladbrokes has him at just 4/11 to end the season as top goalscorer, with Man City also favourites to retain their title and become Premier League champions for the fourth year in a row.
Haaland is hoping to win the Golden Boot for the second time in his second season in England, proving that he’s one of the best and most clinical forwards the country has ever seen.
Cole Palmer – 20 goals
Many fans expected Palmer, at the beginning of the season, to be nothing more than a fringe player for Man City. However, the Englishman has had an entirely different campaign, and finds himself just behind the Premier League’s top goalscorer.
Palmer has scored 20 goals for Chelsea since moving to Stamford Bridge in the summer, and has been the sole bright spark for the Blues in what has been yet another hugely disappointing season for the London-based side.
The right-winger is 4/1 to finish the season as the league’s top scorer, potentially earning himself a spot in England's Euro 2024 squad in the process.
Ollie Watkins – 19 goals
Ollie Watkins is having an incredible season for Aston Villa, who are right in the mix for a spot in the Champions League next season. The Englishman has led the line for Unai Emery’s side all season, popping up with 19 goals in domestic league action in the process.
Villa’s form might have dropped off from what it once was, but with his side having four games to play between now and the end of the season, Watkins will be doing his best to end the season as the league’s top scorer for the first time in his career.
Alexander Isak - 19 goals
Also on 19 goals is Alexander Isak, who has proved himself to be one of the most clinical strikers in the Premier League, despite Newcastle’s form dropping off somewhat compared to last year.
Joining for over £60m from Real Sociedad last summer, Isak has shown that he’s got all the makings of a top striker, having been one of the most lethal batsman in the division since last summer, despite a mixed campaign in terms of injuries.
Dominic Solanke – 18 goals
On 18 goals is Dominic Solanke, who has been putting the ball in the back of the net all season for Bournemouth. He’s currently 40/1 to end the season with the Premier League Golden Boot. His league form has been so good that Bournemouth, despite pre-season predictions, are nowhere near the bottom of the table.
The former Liverpool and Chelsea striker has really come into his own this campaign, scoring just two fewer goals at the time of writing than Haaland, who many view as one of the best strikers the Premier League has ever seen.
Had it not been for the fantastic season Watkins has had, and the overall brilliance of Ivan Toney, Solanke’s form this campaign would likely have earned him a call-up to the England national team.
Mohamed Salah – 17 goals
As he always is, Mohamed Salah is right at the top of the Premier League goalscoring charts as we approach the end of the season, with the Liverpool winger firing in 17 goals for his club in the league this campaign.
Salah has missed much of 2024 due to injury, but he still finds himself three goals off leading the Premier League goalscoring charts. The Egyptian will be hungrier to end the campaign with another Golden Boot to his name.
