We’ve covered England previously, so now Ladbrokes takes you through France’s Euro 2024 squad, their chances of winning the tournament this summer, and what we expect their starting line-up to look like.

England might be the favourites for Euro 2024 at 3/1, but France really aren’t far behind as second-favourites at 10/3, ahead of the likes of Spain (8/1), and even Germany (5/1), the tournament hosts.

France have some of the best players in the world on their books, and after the heartbreak of losing on penalties in the 2022 World Cup final, Kylian Mbappe and co will be eager to get back to winning ways and emerge victorious in Euro 2024.

Ladbrokes takes you through what we regard to be the perfect 23-man squad for France at Euro 2024, as well as a suggestion for their starting XI.

France's Euro 2024 squad

Below we give the 26-man squad that Didier Deschamps should take to Germany as he attempts to bring the Euros back to Paris.

  • Goalkeepers - Mike Maignan, Alphonse Areola, Brice Samba
  • Defenders - Benjamin Pavard, Jonathan Clauss, Jules Kounde, Dayot Upamecano, William Saliba, Ibrahima Konate, Ferland Mendy, Theo Hernandez, Malo Gusto
  • Midfielders - Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Adrien Rabiot, Antoine Griezmann, Warren Zaire-Emery, Yousouf Fofana, Khephren Thuram
  • Attackers - Kylian Mbappe, Marcus Thuram, Randall Kolo Muani, Olivier Giroud, Ousmane Dembele, Kingsley Coman, Moussa Diaby

Our suggested 26-man squad for France at Euro 2024 shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, with the debate between Clauss and Gusto being possibly the major bone of contention, ,but we think both could end up going now that UEFA has allowed France to take 26 men to the tournament next month.

Christopher Nkunku of Chelsea definitely has the ability to to warrant a place, but the lack of football he’s place this season since his move to England means that he’s nowhere near match fit enough to get onto the plane, and will have to wait until the World Cup in 2026 to play international football at a major tournament again.

France’s Euro 2024 starting XI

Now we’ve gone through the 26-man squad, let’s look at the starting line-up that Didier Deschamps should view as his strongest ahead of Euro 2024.

France are stacked at centre-back, with Upamecano, Salina and Konate fighting it out for two starting places, but we think we’ve come up with a team that provides the most balance and stability, as well as attacking threat, which is usually what’s needed to win international tournaments.

Our team has Maignan in goal, with Kounde starting at right-back next to Saliba and Konate, with Upamecano waiting in the wings to come in if required. At left-back it’s Theo Hernandez, who’ll look to provide some attacking threat, whilst still being focused on his defensive duties.

There’s no surprises in midfield, with Camavinga getting the nod over Rabiot and Zaire-Emery, whilst Giroud retains his place at France’s number nine, allowing Dembele to play on the right and Mbappe to start off the left, as he did for France at the World Cup two years ago.

France’s Euro 2024 odds

England are 3/1 to win Euro 2024 as the favourites, but France aren’t far behind at 10/3 as the second-favourites according to the bookies. Many feel as if France could end up going all the way this summer, and when you look at how Mbappe can win games on his own with his unreal individual quality, it’s not hard to see why.

However, Griezmann will also be pivotal if France want to win Euro 2024. Without the Atltetico Madrid man during the most recent international break, France flattered to deceive, and will be relying on the former Barcelona attacker to stay fit if they want to win the Euros for the first time since 2000.

France’s Euro 2024 fixtures

France kick off their tournament games eight days after their last friendly when they face an in-form Austria side managed by Ralf Ragnick, who is believed to be heading to Bayern Munich before the 2024/25 season kicks off.

Also in Group D are the Netherlands, who France play on June 21 in what is expected to be one of the game’s of the group phase, before they face Poland in their final group game four days later on June 25.

Ladbrokes recently looked at the betting odds for each of the countries competing in Euro 2024, starting with England at 3/.1 and working our way down to Georgia the bookies have priced at 500/1.
