Inter Milan thump Werder Bremen to assert dominance in Group A

Inter Milan’s 4-0 demolition of Werder Bremen provided both positives and negatives for Tottenham in their Champions League campaign.

On the positive side, Werder lost, leaving Spurs joint top of Group A alongside Inter.

However, Spurs face a double header with Inter in the next two rounds of matches and have to go to the San Siro first and deal with Samuel Eto’o.

Eto’o, deployed as a sole striker in the absence of Diego Milito, nabbed a superb hat-trick and set-up Wesley Sneijder to cap a superb display from the Cameroon forward.

Eto has four goals in this season Champions League campaign after just two games and has been cut to 5/1 to be the leading scorer in the tournament.

Inter are defending champions and with Rafa Bentiez at the helm, they are strong contenders to go far in the competition leaving Eto’o with plenty of opportunities to enhance his tally.

Inter are now 12/1 to win the competition and are joint with Arsenal, 12/1, and ahead of Bayern Munich, 14/1, and arch rivals AC Milan, 16/1 in the Champions League winner betting market.

Eto’o also has six goals in seven starts in Serie A and he will hope to continue that record when Inter host Juventus on Sunday.

Juventus are 4/1 to beat Manchester City in the Europa League betting market on Thursday and the excursion may take its toll as they prepare for the Italian and European champions.

Inter are 5/6 to win in the San Siro with Juventus available at 7/2 to win the game.

Spurs have been cut from 33/1 to 25/1 to win the Champions League. See the full UEFA Champions League football betting odds market here.
