Copenhagen vs Barcelona – Hosts out to reclaim Group D top spot

Published:

Copenhagen will have to end a barren scoring streak over Barcelona if they have serious aspirations of regaining top spot in Group D.

Barcelona’s routine 2-0 win at home to the Danish outfit in the last round of Champions League fixtures moved them to the head of the group and brought to an end Copenhagen’s 100 per cent winning start.

Copenhagen are 7/1 to beat Barcelona and gain revenge, but their home record against Spanish opposition in the past makes this result easier said than done.

The Danes have failed to win any of their previous three games against a Spanish side, while Barcelona have triumphed in all of their previous visits to Denmark and have also kept clean sheets on all of these occasions.

Barcelona are 2/5 to beat Copenhagen, but better value may be found in the 11/10 that they take maximum points without conceding.

An attacking game is likely in the other Group D game as both Rubin Kazan and Panathinaikos know that they must win to keep alive their chances of finishing in the top two and qualifying for the knockout stages of the Champions League.

The first game between the two in Greece finished goalless, with Rubin making a habit of being involved in low scoring affairs in the competition this season.

Only three goals have been scored in their three Group D showdowns, but they are 4/7 to beat Panathinaikos.

Barcelona failed to leave Russia with more than a point, while Rubin have only lost one of their 13 home games in the top flight domestically this season.

Panathinaikos are 5/1 to inflict a rare defeat on Rubin and condemn the Russians to the foot of Group D.

Panathinaikos lost 5-1 in their only away Champions League away outing so far, which was at Barcelona. See the full Rubin Kazan vs Panathinaikos match betting odds market.
