Grudge clash on the cards in the second round of the FA Cup
Published:Although there is another round until the big guns are unleashed into the FA Cup draw, some big games still exist and upsets are still liable to take place.
Reigning champions Chelsea are favourites to win the FA Cup at 4/1, but it is Sheffield Wednesday who are arguably the biggest team currently competing in the competition in the second round.
Their reward for beating non-league Southport is a home tie against Northampton, but elsewhere there are games that are more important for the teams involved, whether it be for financial reasons or to prove a point.
No doubt the biggest could occur at Kingsmeadow, where AFC Wimbledon may be involved in a grudge match against MK Dons.
This is because AFC were formed on the back of the former Wimbledon FC being given permission to relocate to Milton Keynes, which did not sit well with some of the fans who revolted and established their own club still in the London suburb.
However, what will be a first ever meeting between the two is not guaranteed to take place as both teams involved still have to negotiate their way through first-round replays.
AFC have to overcome fellow non-league outfit Ebbsfleet, while MK Dons tackle Stevenage.
The biggest minnows still remaining in the second round are Swindon Supermarine and they have been drawn away at League One Colchester.
Dartford’s Princes Park ground only has just over 600 seats, but they are likely to be full should the Conference South club win their replay against League Two promotion contenders Port Vale.
The winners of the replay will host Accrington Stanley, with Dartford looking to improve upon their current FA Cup best performance, which was reaching the third round in 1936 and 1937.
