Bet on Ding v Cope – Back a tight affair at Wembley
Published:Jamie Cope is convinced he can see off China’s Ding Junhui in the semi-final of the Ladbrokes Mobile Masters after finally finding some form against Mark King.
He is the 13/8 underdog heading into Saturday’s semi-final against Ding after struggling in his first round game against Shaun Murphy, missing several easy balls before coming out on top 3-2.
However, Cope showed glimpses of his best in his quarter-final against Mark King, comfortably winning 6-1. That was a big improvement for Cope and he’s determined to show he’s back to his best against Ding.
He said: “I felt ten times better against King. I didn’t miss anything easy and my safety was spot on. I got used to the speed of the table and I felt more calm.
“I feel as if I can win it now and it would be amazing to do that. The more semis and finals you get to, the more you get used to it, and sooner or later I will win one.”
World No.4 Ding will be an altogether tougher proposition though. The Chinese saw off Mark Williams 6-4 in his opening game, before comfortably dispatching another former world champion, Graeme Dott, 6-2 in his quarter-final.
Ding is big favourite in the snooker betting at 4/9, but – with Cope starting to find some form – this promises to be a much tighter game than the odds suggest.
Ding should still have too much for the Englishman and looks good to come out on top at odds of 4/9. However, backing Cope to win at +1.5 in the handicap betting could certainly be worth a bet at 11/10.
